M4A3 (Late) Sherman Platoon (1st Printing)

The M4A3, an upgrade from the M4 and M4A1, introduced two key features for identification. While it enhanced the design, certain issues persisted. Notably, the tank's ammunition often ignited upon impact. To mitigate this, designers implemented 'wet' stowage ammo racks and added an extra turret hatch for faster crew evacuation. The M4A3's front end also saw modifications, with larger driver hatches tilting the front armor plate and additional armor protection. The M4A3 (late) variant first appeared in September 1944 and remained in service until the war's end. A 105mm assault gun version was developed to provide heavy firepower, targeting enemy infantry and gun positions. This assault gun, based on the older M4 and late M4A3 chassis, resembled its predecessors in appearance.
