This extra tall heavy duty reflective fireback is an extremely durable heat reflector made from 3/4" thick industrial grade shatterproof steel plate. Unlike other firebacks on the market, this one is NOT made from low quality consumer grade cast iron from a questionable overseas foundry. It will NOT crack or break if you build too hot of a fire. This fireback is intended to be placed vertically against the rear wall of the fireplace right behind your existing grate. No fastening or special tools are required. Grate Wall of Fire manufactures many sizes of these reflective firebacks to fit just about any fireplace out there. Firebacks are used to reflect heat back into the home that would otherwise be lost up the chimney, while also keeping the rear wall of the fireplace significantly cooler. These firebacks are commonly used in conjunction with our "Wall of Fire" grates but they Work well with conventional fireplace grates too! T-HDRF-5 (tall heavy duty reflective fireback) dimensions: 21" wide, 20" tall, 3/4" thick steel construction. Integrated feet extend forward 2¼" from the base of the fireback for positive stability. Weighs 92 lbs. in the box, so be sure to have a helper available to assist you when it arrives. Fireplace size requirements for the T-HDRF-5 fireback: The rear wall of the fireplace must be a minimum of 21" wide and at least 21" high to accommodate the fireback.The fireback you receive may either be black (painted) or bare steel. This will be the case until we exhaust our stock of painted firebacks. Afterwards, all firebacks will be bare steel and have a metallic finish. We are doing this because the paint burns off during the first fire and has proven itself to be completely unnecessary.
