This is a neat piece. It comes across as modernist, but it also has a whimsical feel to it. Designed and produced by Roger Nichols Studios, which was established in Bend, Oregon in 1989. This darling brooch measures 2 3/16" long x 3/4" tall. Marked on the reverse "R. Nichols ©, Sterling" and weighs 12.8 grams. The locking pin mechanism is in good working order, and the brooch itself, is in very nice condition.
Here's an interesting bit of info...Nichols is also an accomplished composer, who has worked with renowned lyricist Paul Williams on several occasions...i.e., for the Carpenter's- "Rainy Days & Mondays", "I Won't Last A Day Without You", "We've Only Just Begun", etc. I guess we can consider him as an ALL around artist!
